NOS Vintage 5 cent Nickel Komet Toy Machine with Display & Backstory from Ford Gum

We have a few of these Komets and are sharing the history behind these particular machines. Some people enjoy hearing the adventures of their machines as a conversation piece to share with others.

Along with thousands of Ford Machines and parts, we found many cool prototypes and samples they had acquired and tested. There were 6 of these buried on a shelf and covered in gumball dust. They were likely samples that were considered as the next generation for Fordway distributors but Ford ended up going with the Astro lineup. We believe these were new and not used on a route because the inside that holds the coins doesn't have any dirt, grime, scratches, etc. Some of them had very old candy in them so there is a little candy powder but other than that, they look new, too.

The outsides are in good condition but do have scratches and scrapes. They are over 50 years and over time samples in factories get moved, bumped, thrown in boxes, moved again, etc and the outside can show marks. In the coin box areas we also found business cards from a machine distributor (pics included).

We included many pictures so you can see the exact condition of the machines. It is extremely rare to find new/unused 50 year old machines and impossible to find them with the new toy display inside. Considering that and coupling it with the unique history makes this machine truly one of kind! Included with this batch of machines was one unit that has the original toy display and vends for 5 cents.

The display has cool art for "Tuffy" balloons and shows uses for balloon animals and water bombs. This listing is for that machine and the pictures are of this specific machine you will receive.
